Hi Rocky and Welcome!
Search for Provigil in the upper right search field and you will find many posts about it.

Do a search for Provigil® (modafinil) in the upper right-hand corner search box. There are many threads on that subject.
(You beat me to it Vickie!)

I got some samples and it makes a huge difference. There is no way I can afford it though, so I'm trying to get it for free through a program I found, The National Organization for Rare Disorders/NORD.

It doesn't do a thing for me except give me hand tremors and headaches. My doc said it is ineffective for many people.

The info I found said they didn't know how it worked. I did get a headache but not sure it was from Provigal because it doesn't happen every time I take it. All I know is I can get through the day awake with it and I need that now.

 PROVIGIL
Hi,
I was given Provigil for Chronic Fatigue, before I knew I had OSA. It helped for a short time, but I was sooo fatigued by no
restorative sleep that I could easily sleep with it. I know they use it for pilots in Iraq, who are doing 24 hour flights, to keep them
alert. So it can't be that bad. If you find that it doesn't work for you, the old old med Dexedrine is a gold standard. It is a stimulant
and appetite depressant, killing two birds with one stone. It can be addictive, so one must be careful. The advantage of Provigil,
they say (hmmm, who knows really) is that it is not addictive. Good luck. Maybe when you get better sleep you won't need
it.

I have been using Provigil for 3 1/2 months now and love it. Even though I was using my cpap everynight since I brought it home I was still sleepy. I was sent home with another machine with the chip that they could read( I forget which one) and slept with it for 2 wks. They then raised my pressure by a few points but I still had trouble by mid afternoon. So my dr gave me Provigil. I was told to start out with 1/2 a pill in the am, then move to 1/2 morning and 1/2 noon. If that didn't work I was to try a whole pill morning/half noon then onto whole pill/whole pill. I so far have been able to fuction on 1/2 a pill in the am. I have them by the bed so I take one as soon as the clock goes off. I continue to set the clock on weekends to take my pill so as not to upset my inner clock. Just recently I have started to be sleepy late afternoon but have struggled thru it hoping that it will get better. I keep thinking that since I have been using cpap for about 15 months maybe I should push for another study just to be sure. But until then - I won't leave home without it!!

Guest,
I just wrote a post regarding Anna and Provigil on the Late Night with Sleep Apnea area of this forum.
I don't have any experience with Provigil, but the combination of meds is interesting.

 Provigil
I had taken provigil before, but like a diet pill, only when I was tired. I can sleep 48 hours without even geting up to use the bathroom. It was ruining my life. I decided to try Provigil as a last effort. To save my realtionship and job.I still get tired and don't understand. The provigil on a daily basis is really helping. I've been taking it for 3 weeks, will I still feel a better difference with time?

Yes,l the question is important. Are you REGULARLY using a CPAP and is it fitted well?
I have been on CPAP therapy for six months (and I like you slept ALL THE TIME 20 hours a day). I still do not have energy and cannot stay awake without a stimulant.
But my hope is that in time, the CPAP will allow my organs to heal and to regain my old energy. But if I have to take something every day for the rest of my life, I
don't care because I am not asleep all the time anymore. Good luck.

I don;t know what cpap is? I was diagnosed with fibromyalgia in 2004, the pain isn't as bad now, but the Chronic Fatigue is killing me emotionally. I also had emergency stomach surgery June because of the Celebrex they gave me for the pain. It gave me 8 bleeding ulcers. But my main problem is the sleepiness - Constant -Thanks
