Post Oh Yeah, Forgot Why I'm Here!
Whoops!  Sorry, TVfromIndia, forgot all about you!

How's your blood pressure anyway?

Last time we talked, you said you weren't tired during the day, that daytime drowsiness was gone.  Is that correct, and still true?
There's a couple of strange things in the results though.  55% of your sleep is Stage 3/4, or SWS.  That's astounding.  And your sleep appears to be only about 4 hours and 10 minutes long.  That's confusing.

Your AHI and AI are miniscule, but can you shed any light on those questions before we close the book here?

Blood Pressure is ok...and i am not tired during the day + no drowsiness either. There are times when at about 8 PM i feel a bit tired..but not sleepy.

ok what happened is..the test went on for a couple of more hours than the 4 hours and 10 minutes...started at 11.37 PM .. but i pulled some wires i think at about 4.15 AM. And the bloody technician didnt notice it..he was relatively new to this. There might be a chance to do another test, the doctor said things look ok..but did suggest another test (i dont have to pay) although based on the 4 hours sleep...i looked good.

Whats wrong with 55% in stage 3/4??

Post Epilogue
Hi TVfromIndia!
OK, that makes more sense.  Stage 3/4 sleep occurs mostly in the begining of the night, and generally composes about 20% of the sleep total.  It can be elevated following sleep deprivation.  But if your sleep study was cut short, then the Stage 3/4% becomes increased relative to the total.
So lets see...normal AHI, normal BP, you don't snore, with all that SWS you sleep like a rock, AI of only 7.4 while sleeping in a strange lab with a bunch of wires, and you're not sleepy during the day.  Yeah, this is a tough one.
Make sure you don't start smoking again and watch your weight.
That's about the only thing I can think of to say.
Don't forget to send us a Christmas card.

Post Thanks
But still not clear about the 3/4 . .. is it good or bad ..or just plain ugly? yes..wont start smoking again (sigh!!! am going to amsterdam...and will miss a lot of things)...drinking is out too...and maintaining weight...will be a challenge..no cheese... can you explain a bit more about "OK, that makes more sense.  Stage 3/4 sleep occurs mostly in the begining of the night, and generally composes about 20% of the sleep total.  It can be elevated following sleep deprivation.  But if your sleep study was cut short, then the Stage 3/4% becomes increased relative to the total."?

Yes! Christmas Card most definitely. Coming to this place was a huge help. I visited a forum when i quit smoking as well..they say NTAP - never take another puff!!! i had just quit..and they said..that a person was allowed to post only if he was off any form of nicotine for atleast 72 hours..and that included nicotine patches. I went from 2 packs to zero just so I could post there. But i never posted there.

Post Addition and Division
Yo.
If you were pretty much done with your 3/4 sleep by 4 AM, then the rest of the night would have been mostly REM and 2.  You say you sleep for 8 hours?  Now your Stage 3/4% is 28% of the night, which is a more logical number.
People who are exhausted will often have larger than normal amounts of 3/4 (and REM) sleep as they try to pay off their sleep debt.  Like those who have OSA, once CPAP is started and they are allowed to sleep continuously, often have larger than normal 3/4 and REM because now they can sleep continuously and catch up a little bit.
3/4 is always good.  It can sometimes be the body's response to something that was bad (like staying out late for about 5 night in a row).
