The same thing is happening with the Wii that happened with the PS3. Everyone horded them and are selling them on E-Bay for ridiculous prices. Also, any online stores that have them in stock are jacking the price by as much as $800.
I'll just wait until I can get one for the list price, $249.

Tiger Woods is a great adaptation to the Wii. They got the controls right and did a good job on bringing it over from the other game platforms. One or two things I don't like but overall the game works good.
We've bought a few Wiis has gifts. What we had to do was go to our local game store and put our name on a list to get the Wiis has they came in. Went pretty well for us. You might considering finding a local game store and get your name on a list for a Wii. Make take a few weeks but you won't pay more than $249.00 for your Wii.
Nintendo had to slow up production on the Wii has there was a shortage of the remotes. The remotes are actually manufactured by a different company. The demand was more than Nintendo had expected. This problem has been resolved and you should see more Weiss on the shelf in the coming weeks.

I got lucky I guess with my Wii. After I decided I was going to get one, I just sort of wandered by the electronics section when I was in a store like Wal-Mart to see if they had them in stock. I wasn't actively tracking one down as much as just seeing if they were in stock while I was already at the store for something else. One evening I apparently walked in shortly after the store had received a shipment of like 9 of them. So I was able to get mine then, at the $249 price. Adding the second controller and nunchuck took it up to $300, but that's to be expected.
We also ended up getting a couple of GameCube controllers for it, and picked up Lego Star Wars 1 and 2 for the kids. They have a lot of fun with those.

You're welcome. BTW the supply of Wii's is expected to improve in June. It has caught a lot of people of guard on how well it is selling. Read a report where both Microsoft and Sony are at complete loss on how well the Wii is doing. The funny part of the whole thing is while MS and Sony are selling their consoles at a loss, Nintendo is making money on the Wii and it's the cheapest new console.

(standing up at his firs meeting)
Hi I,m Mulebiscuit and im a hosehead and a avid gamer. I have been a gamer aholic sence my TRS model III playing Zork and probaly a OSA aholic for just as long but didnt relize it untill recently.
(he sits down)
Any turn base stratigy or RPG players here? I do play some console games but mostly PC games as I find them more challangeing and like the extra options and controlls better. Unfortuneately my PC has fallen behind the tech curve some as I am putting kids through college and so they recive the bulk of my disposable income. With that said I was courious as to what older games do you guys find youselvs going back to play on a regular basis. I often go back to playing a game that is now a free open source adaptation of a 1996 game called Steel Panthers. I also play many of my old space combat sims although not recently as my flight stick as died on me. Any suggestions on a new stick that dosent cost alot?

Hi Mulebiscuit! A friend of mine is heavily into Warcraft; he's been trying to get me to join but I'm resisting. Between work and school, I don't want to get hooked.
I love a lot of older games. I go back to playing anything that will run on Win XP. I'm really considering pulling one of my old computers out of storage and sticking Win 98 on it, just so I can play the ones that won't.
My favorites, and you can tell I'm a fan of first person shooters:
Doom, Redneck Rampage, Duke Nukem, Rise of the Triad, Shadow Warrior, Terminal Velocity, Heretic, Blood, Blake Stone, Corridor 7, Hexen, Quake, SimCity, Leisure Suit Larry, Trophy Bass, and Half-Life, to name a few.

I'm a FPS type, as well. I play UT2K4, SAS, and Quake III online often with a group of friends that are loosely based in the Netherlands, but we have a large North American contingent as well.
For single-player I prefer Half-Life II and its kin, Prey, F.E.A.R., the older Unreal and Quake series, and I just picked up S.T.A.L.K.E.R. -- haven't played it yet.
I dunno if plugs like this are discouraged, but if so, I apologize in advance -- check out the Fun 'n' Games community. I hesitate to call it a clan, we're not in this for competition, just fun for all involved regardless of age, experience or skill level.
You'll find me there as Mephitic, an all-too-apt nickname.
I also have an antique 486 box with a Voodoo video card in it that runs DOS games, my favs are Duke Nukem and Descent.

It's not a commercial site, so it's fine to plug.

Mulebiscuit, I'm a fan of RPG games. I used to play some FPS games, but I developed a weird sort of motion sickness and now I get light headed/sick to my stomach if I play FPS games for more than a few minutes. Weird...
Most recently I went through Neverwinter Nights 2, which is still pretty buggy despite 5 patches having been released to this point. The first one though is a classic, and you can pickup NWN1 Diamond Edition on DVD for like $30. It has the original plus the expansions and other extra modules. Definitely a good score if you haven't played NWN before. It'll run just fine on a 5 year old machine. I also like the two Star Wars Knights of the Old Republic games, which are also RPGs.
I used to play the Ultima series back in the day on my Commodore 64, and of course Zork and Wizardry on the Apple IIe
I still have a 10 year old Microsoft Sidewinder flight stick, so I can't help you much on that unfortunately. It keeps ticking (so to speak), so I've never felt a need to replace it.

I finally got a Wii. My wife has had a ball playing tennis and bowling in her wheelchair. It's a really different experience in video games.
Does anyone have a recommendation for good Wii games that utilize the uniqueness of the controls?

I would say as a start to use both controllers in something that is not Wii Sports try Rayman Raving Rabbids. A collection of mini games that are a little off beat. I liked the cow tossing part of the game myself.
You didn't pay more than $249.00 did you? Glad to see you finally got one. It is a very different experience in video gaming as you really do feel more part of the game. Did you get yours connected to the internet yet?

I hooked it into my wireless network. I like the news function and the way the Wii stays in standby mode and updates constantly.
I paid $249. When I bought an extra remote, it came with another disk with nine games on it. Some of them aren't bad... like the nine ball. I get a kick out of the tank warfare thing too.
I almost threw my shoulder out playing tennis and bowling.

One of our friends here did something to her shoulder when boxing. She was in physical therapy for about three months. She is finally back at it but she sure hurt for a while. Glad to hear you only paid to $249.00 for your Wii. I could never understand why people would go to ebay and pay the price they ask for there. When with a little patients you can get one for a lot less and make up the play time later.
