Well I've been watching the next gen console wars and I think Sony is a little worried about Nintendo. There's already talk by Sony to drop the PS3 price. With the sales figures the PS3 has had I guess the only thing you can do is drop the price. Course Sony is already taking a lose on each PS3 sold.
I've been playing a rather different game has of late on my Wii. It's called Rayman Raving Rabbids. It really is a fun game just a little off beat from what you would expect in a game.

The Sony® Playstation™ 3 is actually an excellent buy. You're right; they cost a couple of hundred more to build than the selling price. The thing that makes it a really good value is the Blu-Ray™ drive. Those suckers all go for over a grand. What a deal: get a decent gaming machine and a Blu-Ray™ drive to boot.
I think I'm gonna get a Wii™ though. They're more fun!

Of course, if HD-DVD or whatever it is called manages to beat out Blu-Ray as the next generation DVD format, then it will be ugly for all those PS3 owners who paid a premium for those drives.

I wonder what's going to happen with these two formats. I don't think one will go away like Beta recorders did. Things are a little different today...one company is manufacturing a machine that plays both formats. And one motion picture studio is putting out a disc with both formats on it.
Sony says their Blu-Ray™ system is better quality then HD-DVD™, but I doubt many people could tell the difference. Most people can't even tell the difference between 720p and 1080i.

I owned that, beat it, and sold it... it was fun, but I was expecting more then a bunch of minigames.
The dance scenes and the plunger shooting were my favorites... I hated trying to throw that cow.

I was about to say the same thing in the fact that there are players that are coming out that play both.
I did read in interesting article in Red Herring magazine about their predictions for 2007...
"Top 10 Predictions for 2007: Internet downloading will bypass physical media."
Top 10 Predictions for 2007: Internet downloading will bypass physical media. wrote:So now the rivalry between high-definition HD-DVD and Blu-Ray formats evokes yawns, even though both made it out in time for the holidays. Consumers stayed away—waiting, it seemed, for a device that lets them download movies directly to a hard disk. And it looks like that wait is finally over. Hewlett-Packard now has a digital entertainment server that wirelessly transmits movie downloads to a TV, and Apple is expected to launch a device to do the same thing—maybe even downloading first-run movies not yet at rental shops.

JuggoPop my wife hates that cow tossing scene as well. Really thinks its distastful and could have been done better. I've just started playing through the game and think it's fun just off beat.
We got lucky and walked into a department store yesterday and they actually had Wii in stock. First time I've actually seen them just sitting on a shelf.
One company has actually made a disk that can be recorded with both HD-DVD and Blu-Ray on the same disk. You can record both formats on the same disk and then put them into either type of player and they work fine. I like the rest of you doubt we will see either format go away. I think players or disk that can do both formats will be the winners in the long run.

You are probably right JuggoPop, eventually downloading movies will be the best method. But what about people who collect movies? They would still want to burn them on an HD type of disc.
Also, the Internet will have to get a whole hell of a lot faster. HD movies are in the high gigabyte size range. It might take a week to download one movie.
Here's an interesting report:

All those Wii's we saw the other day are gone. There were about 10 of them. This is really neat to see happen has so many industry experts predicted that Nintendo was going to fall on it's face with the Wii. I like watching experts be wrong.

I see there is more bad news for Sony. The Wii continues to out sell it in all markets. Pretty sad thing to have happen when everyone thought the PS3 would be such a good seller.
Any one get any new games lately? My wife got Ice Age 2 for the Wii and has been playing that. I haven't had a chance to play any games this last week.

I just got a Wii last week. I hadn't really been actively chasing one, mainly just whenever I've had to go to Wal-Mart for something I've just wandered past the electronics aisle to see if they had them in stock. Last Tuesday I managed to show up just a couple of hours after they had just gotten a shipment in.
Haven't bought any games yet other than a couple of Gamecube games for the kids (Lego Star Wars 1 and 2) that play on the Wii. I've got Tiger Woods 2007 on my radar, and possibly the Zelda game. I'm still having a blast with Wii Sports -lol- I love the extras in "training," especially the bowling part where you have to knock down an increasing number of pins.

Got to love that Wii Sports don't you. A friend of ours is under going physical therapy for her left shoulder. Really got into a boxing match and injured her left shoulder. Not really bad. She expects to be back into the ring shortly. My wife and me love the bowling and golf. Personally I'm waiting for Tiger Woods golf for the Wii. That should be really good.

Any one with a Wii try out Tiger Woods golf on it? I did and talk about a ball on the Wii. Almost like real golf. Only porblem is that the few times I've been on a golf course I never was dressed that good.

I bought Tiger Woods the weekend after it came out, so I've had it about a month or so now. It's awesome, I'm having a blast with it. My favorite part is actually the "Tiger Challenge" series of mini-games, though the regular tour mode is fun too. The only downside that is sometimes annoying is that when competing in a tour event you can't save a game in the middle of a round, so you have to make sure you can set aside the time to play the full 18 at one shot.
Oh yeah ... I was extremely saddened that when I was setting up my character/player I was designing him to look as close to my real self as possible, and I found out that even at age 35 my haircut is called "Retro" on the game -lol-
