 siamese cats
I have a weakness for siamese cats. I have adopted 5 in the past 15 years, not all at once though. I got a siamese kitten when I was in kindergarten, and he lived for 18 years. We currently have a seal point/ragdoll named Baxter and a calico/siamese named Taffy, both adopted from the pound. I would love to breed siamese cats, although a siamese cat in heat is a noise to be reckoned with!!

 Re: siamese cats
I also wanted to be a vet as I was growing up. I found that veterinarian school was hard to get into, expensive, and takes many years for a degree. I ended up in the corporate world.
It enlightens my heart to see others take in and care for strays. Again, we can't save them all, but every small step makes a profound difference.

This is my little critter Lacey. In this photo she is trying to get me away from my computer (fat chance!)

Linda,
Love, love, love Lacey!!! Her (I assume) markings are striking. She looks young. How old is she? Is she a rescue?
My cats do the same. If I'm on the computer, the cell phone, or reading, they try to get between me and the chosen media to get my attention.
I wish I could figure out how to post pictures on your site. It's not as simple as a copy and paste. Another member mentioned uploading the photos to some site, but I have no clue how to do it.
Anyway, I continue to look forward to your posts and valuable information. And, of course, that beautiful dove!
Happy New Year!

Love it!
Spanky looks just like my Abby. She's almost 15, a Humane Society rescue, and I am blessed to have her this long.
The coloring of Popeye and Tiger are gorgeous. I've never had an "orange" cat. Friends call that color "butterscotch".
I also have a goal to have a "peaceful, deep sleep". Not easy, is it?

Hi SnickersPie,
I sent you a PM explaining how to do it. PM me if you still have questions.
Yes, I got Lacey at the animal shelter. She was only a few months old, the owner brought it to the place because their family had a dog and the kitten was apparently being terrorized by it. Gosh, I don't remember when I got her, but at least 7 years ago, I think. She was maybe 4 or 5 when I took this. I've only had two cats. I must be an aloof person, because my first one was aloof as was this one. Thanks for the nice comments. Sometimes I think I might change my avatar, but then I knew I would miss the dove, which I stole fair and square.
But it sure is nice having pets, isn't it? Lacey is jealous of my time on the computer, but she isn't interested in it like Lori's Tiger. So funny. And Lacey pays no attention at all to my cpap or the mask. Love your cats, Lori. Love your cat avatar!!!

Yes, I read your PM. I'll give it a try.
Don't lose the dove! We love it! It also gives us a quick identity to you. I often scan for your comments based on that lovely dove.
I've mixed and matched cats and dogs most of my life. They all have gotten along. Some better than others. Sounds like Lacey's first home just wasn't meant to be, but your home is.
Funny, due to SA, I sleep a lot. My 1+-year-old Pomeranian sleeps with me as long as I do, if not more. I don't know if that's a good thing or a bad thing. They really do seem to adapt to our lifestyle.
Yes, all pets are wonderful. I can't imagine life without them.

Spank was a stray. He ran with a stray white cat that was hit and killed by a car and taken in from the cold three years ago. He "squeaks" rather than meows (except when he's in the carrier--then he yowls for miles. LOL).

Tiger was the first orange kitty I ever had. And even declawed, he lives up to his name! LMBO! He and Popeye were both given to me because their previous owners didn't want them going to shelters, where they would have just been put down.
Popeye is a big baby and love monger. Not too keen on being picked up, but he loves about everything else, especially food.

Not quite, especially with the combination of OSA and Feline Championship Wrestling in the middle of the night. At least the OSA is under control with the CPAP. LOL. I'm still working on the FCW issue.

Hahahaha!
My cat is boring, at least you have excitement!
Love it.
Hhopper, thanks for bringing back the photos, I hadn't seen them before. Wonderful!
Non-cat owners just don't understand, do they? lol

No, non-cat owners don't understand!! I also have a dog, love her to death, but my three cats are such a challenge. Unlike a dog, you have to "earn" the felines respect.
I've tried to upload pictures, but have had no success. Linda was kind enough to give me specific directions, but still, no success.
Keep those photos and stories coming!! I am enchanted!

I love dogs, but living alone, I don't have the time to devote to a dog. But I love my brother's dog Gizmo!
He's quite a mop head.

Aww! That looks almost like the little dog that got off its leash the other day and wanted to play with Tiger (who managed to sneak outside). Needless to say, Tiger did not reciprocate.

Making me laugh warmly!! Gizmo is adorable!! What a cutie!! I also live alone, and am a working "mom", but have found a way to care for a dog ... a small dog at that, and three cats.
The photo of "Tiger" is hilarious. I'm not surprised that Tiger had no interest in the dog that got loose!! I hope this loose dog found his home. I love these stories!
