HI : Iam new to the group. Glade to see a little up beat ideas. I also don't ride now. Motorcycling was big joy in our
life. Iam in between a rock and a hard spot. well its feels like a boulder. Iam not able to pass a pre employment medical
exam. Its been 2004 since I had a full time job with health insurance. I need help in meny ways. Still have hope on
getting out on the open road. I have a 1980 Motoguzzi SP1000. And Its breaks my heart to see it just sitting.
Sorry for the downer. Last year I feel off a bicycle and broken my left legg in 7 places all below the knee.
So that were my emegency money went. Life is what we make of it but I tired of lemond ade. My wife has a dream
for us to hike the grand canyon. I hope to be around to share her dream. Do you know if there is any charities that
step up to help with the testing for sleep apnea. Any thoughts thanks zombie dude
PS some day again in the wind.

Hi all sorry to be gone for so long but I had another doctor tell me I'm just getting old. At any rate could not even sit at a keyboard for very long. Made it hard to work let along get on the internet and type when I got home. Back to normal now and hopefully I won't have another doctor tell me I'm getting old for awhile.
The weather here in northwest Oregon has turned very cool and wet. Usually mid 40's in the morning warming to the mid 50's in the afternoon. Plenty of rain. Hope you all are having some good weather where you are at. Haven't been able to get out to ride at all so hopefully some of you have made it out.
zombie dude you may want to ask about charities that help with sleep apnea in another forum area. I myself do not know of any. I'm sure there is one around thou. After all this is a controllable condition.

Nice ride Mike! Did you trade your Valk for it? I was looking at a California Vintage at a nearby Guzzi dealer this year, but it was $19,000 CDN at the time (plus tax). Gorgeous bike, black and white with factory hard bags and tons of chrome. Are those Hepco Becker bags on yours?
An elderly Italian friend of mine has a 750 Lemans from the '70s. He doesn't ride it but won't sell it. He rides a 750 Shadow now.
Both Moto Guzzi and Harley-Davidson are being very agressive with their pricing up here now that our dollar is at par with the greenback. A Moto Guzzi Griso 1100 that listed for $17,000 in the spring is now selling for $12,500. A 1200 Sportster Roadster can now be had for $9,900. The Japanese haven't moved much or any and I think it's going to cost them sales. I'll have to check on those Californias again next spring. The 2007s are apparently all gone.
I wish you miles of smiles with your Guzzi Mike!

I've heard nothing but good about the Vintage. If I were to buy a new one that would be my first choice. This one is used, but only has 16,000 miles.
I have tentatively sold the Valkyrie and sidecar and plan to use half of the money to pay for this and the rest to pay bills. I don't ride as much as I used to and decided it was time for a change. Last August I attended a Guzzi Rally that was far and above the most fun I've ever had on a bike. Next summer the wife is accompanying me because I've talked about it so much. My daughter and grandchildren are meeting us there as well. I've never bought a bike just because I'm impressed by the folks who ride them. I guess it's time I try it.
The bags are made by Givi. I was concerned it might not pull my camper, but it has about 80 HP which is only around ten less than the Valkyrie. The guy is supposed to be coming from Arizona for the Valkyrie on Sunday. If he doesn't I expect I'll find a way to keep them both until spring and put the Valkyrie on ebay when the market is right.

Nice Moto Guzzi there. You should have years of fun on that bike. I have never understood why Moto Guzzi and Ducati are not more popular in the states. Both companies have had problems but so have other motocycle manufactures. Nice to see someone buy a solid bike like that and not follow the popular trend towards a V twin.

A good friend calls this one "A V-Twin done right".

I read a review on the new for 2008 Moto Guzzi Grisso 1100. The engine has overhead cams instead of pushrods and puts out about 22 more bhp than the current 1100 engine. I would think this engine will find it's way into the rest of the line.
Ducatis are becoming very popular here in Canada at least. The only reason I don't own one is that the maintainance intervals are very short and routine maintainance is pretty pricey. They have a model in the Sport Classic line. the GT 1000 that I would buy in a heartbeat if not for the heavy maintainance requirements. Looks good, upright seating position and goes like stink.
Mike: just exactly what model is your Guzzi? I'm pretty sure it's one of the California models, but I'm not sure which one.

It's a 1999 V11EV with 16,000 miles. The Valkyrie left for it's new home this morning. The new owner is riding it home to Arizona.

Mike: what was the weather like up your way when he left with the Valkyrie? Snow storms since Saturday night here in Southern Ontario.

Same here. We had to blow 8 inches out of the driveway so he could get it out of the garage. He managed 165 miles on Sunday, then called and told me to shoot him if he ever offered to do it again in winter.
At 9 this morning he was on his way south through Iowa and telling me how wonderful it felt riding in the morning sun. He'll be all right.

I have to agree that the Moto Guzzi has the V twin in a better position. At least both cylinder get air on them instead of just the front one. Are you putting a sidecar on this one? Big change going to a bike without a sidecar on it. Let us know what you plan to do with it.
Did the guy who picked your Valk up hit that storm in the midwest?

The storm hit here the night he arrived. By morning it was sunny and 25 degrees. He left here Sunday morning, only made it about 160 miles that day, but arrived home 6 pm Wednesday. He says the first two days were the coldest he had ever experienced in his life.
I expect to mount a sidecar, but possibly not until next fall. I find it interesting how much slower I ride on two wheels and how much more I have to slow down for the corners. I'm used to just blasting through them. It may get the sidecar sooner than later.
Mike
