Post An unresponsive doc! Help!
Hi all,

My sleep study was done January 4. When I posted it here, Dave discovered it had been misinterpreted.  Shocked My sleep doc agreed and said he wanted to review it with his partner. At the next visit, when I asked for a corrected diagnosis, he stated his partner was hard to get hold of because he travelled so much (he lectures internationally). That was 6 months ago!!

I need the correct diagnosis, because I'm being worked up for weight-loss surgery. My PCP has told me he's had a lot of complaints from patients about this office not following up on things.

I'm on an autobipap and doing well, so that's not the issue.

Should I:
1. try again to get an updated diagnosis? How?
2. demand my PSG and take it somewhere else to be interpreted?
3. fire my sleep doc and get a new one? (I really like him and he seems very experienced.)

I'm pretty darned assertive but this has got me flummoxed.

Nancy,

You need to get away from your sleep doctor. He may be experienced, he may be brilliant, but if he is not providing the service, particularly where your health is concerned..............bye bye  Laughing  Also bear in mind that you pay him quite substantially to look after your interests.................and he or she who pays the piper, calls the tune.

I think a call to his office, request the sleep study to be left for collection, at a specific time and date and advise them that you are taking your business and money elsewhere................needless to say you should make arrangements with a new sleep doctor in advance.

Blaming his inability to function on his partner is pure BS.

Daniel.

Daniel,

Thanks for your response. You're absolutely right. I hate having to hunt for a doctor again, but this one isn't doing what I pay him for!!
