Post Food For Thought - 6 Year Old With Sleeping Difficulty
Hello, this is my first visit to this forum and I'm interested to see where it goes.  My daughter has just turned 6 and is having a real difficult time breathing and sleeping at night time.  It began about a month ago and has gotten progressively worse.  I do believe she has sleep apnea issues.  I called her primary doctor and she has referred us to a ear, nose and throat doctor.  The appointment is set, but not until next month.  In the meantime, I worry about her sleeping pattern as it has disrupted all of us, especially her.  She cries in the night because she wakes herself up from not being able to breath!!!  Is there any suggestions anyone can give me in the meantime until we see the doctor of what I can do to help the situation.  Appreciate it.  Thanks!!  P.S. I do have a cool mist humidifier in her room as well as a air fliter - but they don't seem to be helping much!!

Post Don't Wait
Hi jt:
There's nothing that I can think of to justify waiting that long under any circumstances, there's no palliative treatment that should be experimented with if there's a significant underlying issue.  If this has progessed to this point in a month, I'd push everything up.  Call the ENT and explain the situation, there's always some wiggle room to work in a visit, or even run down the ED if necessary, cause from your post it doesn't sound like anyone's done a good assessment.  If there's an issue, they'll move on it, if not, you now have peace of mind and can take your time, but with confidence that it'll be OK.
