My Thyroid was fine too. Wish that was the problem! My problem is portion control and eating when I'm not hungry.

Jenn Mary, Congratulations!  Way to go!  I bet it feels great!

I will probably gain those pounds you lost. I just ate a Chicken Alfredo pizza. (3 slices of one anyway!)

I will weigh in on Monday! Tomorrow we are having company and dinner is lasagna!

Keep up the good work!

I was 177.5 this morning before stepping into the shower, so it was agood week. However, I kind of cheated in a way. I was so busy this week that 4 days I didn't eat breakfast or lunch. Other than the Thursday night where we went out and I overindulged on Italian, I way under ate this week. Hopefully it won't catch up with me next week.

Hi all,

Just a quick check in.  I started going back on the treadmill Thursday.  It's only been three nights, and I'm staying on for less time than I was before, but I'm going to work up to my endurance and speed of last year.  Thursday, my lower back hurt a little; today, it didn't.  Right now, I'm only staying on for fifteen minutes at most, but it's good enough that I'm moving, I guess.  Even though I felt tired and sure that I wouldn't get on the thing last night and tonight, I did.  I think that's because of my newfound energy, even though I'm still waking up during the night.  I'm taking it slow, not weighing myself yet, just trying to get back in the swing of things.

Thank you, everybody for being here.  You are all my inspiration.

WOW!
Congratulations Lori!  And you're off to a good start Sleepytime Very Happy
Me, I am down 2lbs this week. We all went swimming at the Y yesterday and it was so much fun. This week may be a little challenging for me, but I shall do my best to keep moving. I have a huge paper to write that I have been putting of for a few weeks. I want to get the bulk of it done before I begin work and school again. I am going to miss having all this freetime, I find that I work out more, work in the garden more and basically just have more of a desire to eat healthy and exercise when I am not working 13 hours days. I have resolved to find a way to keep healthy snacks on hand and avoid the carbs and sugar as much as possible this semester.
Well all,  have a great week and happy trails!  Applause

Yippee!  I am down to the weight I was a year ago!  Just had a dr. appointment and she said I weighed the same as a year ago!

I'm with you Katherine!  I switched grades and buildings this year (same district) so all of my stuff is in boxes. I have been at school since Wednesday. No air conditioning while unpacking.

So, I worked on the treadmill and bow-flex on Monday and Tuesday, but my exercise the rest of the week was much harder!  Unloading tons of boxes in my new classroom.

Hope everyone else is doing well.

Post Hi All
I'm hoping that life under CPAP will help me lose weight. My biggest problem (problems) are my knees. They've both gotten so bad that it's difficult for me to walk more than a block or so, and stairs are out. So I'm left with swimming as my exercise. I don't do it as much as I should, and maybe by spending more time talking to folks about this I'll get the kick in the pants motivation I need for that! :).

LaPopessa, are your knees okay enough to ride a recumbant bike?  I've got one of those, and don't find that they stress my knees much unless I'm on very high resistance settings. I much prefer the comfort of a recumbant to a traditional "upright" style exercise bike.

I was up a pound this last week. Had colleagues in town from our Atlanta office and ate out for lunch almost every day rather than going walking. Gotta get back on track!

Post knees and more,,,
I have been lurking on this forum for over a week. I got my CPAP last Thurs and as each day goes by I hope for more energy.

To the gal who posted about knees. I have had both of my knees replaces. One 12/05, the other last summer. I am a teacher...second grade. I struggled for two years with knee pain before I got to the top of Kaiser's TKR list... I still struggle with pain (muscle) and stiffness everyday. Most days are good...some, because I am lazy and on summer break and not exercising enough to get those muscles saturated with oxygen.

I walk a treadmill 20 min each day and ride my recumbent bike (I try everyday) 20 minutes. The bike is harder on the knees (to get started) but.....
I think I developed OSA after my second surgery in two years. As I recovered from surgery I was always tired. No matter what I did (naps didn't help- I woke just as tired as before). Then I started having trouble going to sleep...and when you have to get up and face 21- 8 year olds everyday...you need energy. Doctor put me on Ambien to get to sleep but I never felt rested. Finally, I complained so much, I got to the top of the list, visited the sleep clinic and came home that day with a CPAP machine.

Now two weeks into sleeping better...I still feel tired.. This summer I went on a diet.. my blood sugar was high (runs in the family)..I lost about 16 pounds easily in about 4 weeks...and I've stalled there. I am working on a 1200 calorie diet, tons fo fruit and veggies,  no sugar...   I'd love any diet support....any encouragement about when energy levels will increase...
I have less than two weeks until school starts!!!!!!!!!

Welcome Marcia! I think it took me 2-3 weeks to feel better when I started really feeling better. Do you have a machine that shows you any data? I didn't for a long time, but do now and it is helpful to be able to see if my treatment is actually working.

Something else for people who have various leg and/or lower back problems - I spent a lot of time researching shoes, and finally settled on MBT. They are not cheap at $250, but they are amazing. I've been wearing a pair of these (http://www.zappos.com/n/p/dp/12081641/c/120664.html) for awhile now and swear by them. The design has improved my posture, which has in turn gotten rid of nagging lower back pain. I also used to have plantar fasciitis off and on, and haven't had problems with that either since switching to MBT.  I'm not trying to sound like an advertisement, but they've been great for me. I hope the commercial link I posted isn't a problem, I don't think it is since it has nothing whatsoever to do with sleep apnea.

Welcome Marcia and LaPopessa!  Well, had my weekly weigh in yesterday.  It's not much but I was down .02lb.  I guess that's better than the half a pound I gained last week and it was enough to motivate me to keep going.

Will,

I have plantar fasciitis too. I spend a fortune trying new shoes that don't hurt my feet. I will check out the web site.

Ok, update on the weight loss or lack thereof.

I have spent every day of the last 8 days unpacking boxes in my new classroom. I am so tired from OSA and unpacking that I have not been on the treadmill or the Bow-Flex. I have gained 2 pounds back from the 5 pounds I lost two weeks ago. My feet are swelling up to my knees!

I have to report to school on Tuesday, so my summer is OVER!  I am really going to try to get up earlier to exercise, but as any teacher knows, the beginning of the year is very difficult. Teachers have so much to do to get the year off right. Changing schools has made it worse.

I also changed my sleep doctor. The new one wants to try me on a bi-pap that has a timed rate. Will find out what that is on the forum, I hope.

I hope everyone is doing well. Losing weight is so difficult even without OSA. See you next week.

Down a couple of pounds to 175.25 this week. It was another week where I was busy at work and didn't get around to eating lunch all but one day. This next week will likely be very similar, we're integrating a company in California that we bought last year and the big cutover is next weekend. So there are lots of meetings and preparations for it. With people involved from the Eastern, Central, and Pacific time zones, it seems like the meetings keep getting scheduled right in the middle of lunch for me. Oh well, I guess it works out.

Good luck to the teachers starting the new school year!

Post welcome back Kotter
Hey Everybody,
Peke, I totally feel your pain. My A/C is out in my room too and its a total diasater right now. What's worse is I've been sick for the last 5 days with an excruciating UTI   Embarassed so I haven't walked, worked in my garden or worked out.  I feel soooo tired today. Friday I didn't sleep at all, and Saturday I was up and down so much I didn't use my machine at all.  What a difference CPAP makes, go a few days without it and see what happens? I call it return of the living zombie- (the way I used to feel before I was diagnosed)
I went to the doctor and I haven't gained nor lost. I am going to take it easy this week and rest tonight and tomorrow since the kiddos return to class on Wednesday.  I need to get back on track too-I am hoping to hit the gym by Thursday even if the workout is goverened by berevity.
On the plus, I have discovered a lowfat popsicle that has real fruit and only 70 calories-I believe the name is Fruit-a Freeze. They are so refreshing in this heat.
God speed to all of you on your weight loss journey this week.

Katherine
