gas with bipap nose swift LT for her

Postby K5MOW » Fri Sep 24, 2010 8:47 pm

My wife just got on her bipap machine and she has been having some problems with bad chest pain and lots of gas every morning, she just got it Monday and its been causing her problems. She is extremely claustraphobic and so the full face masks arent a option. Her setting is 15 / 10. She is using the Swift LT for her. She is using a chin strap. She has had severe apena for a long time and she stops breathing every other minute so we really hope this can be fixed some how.

Anyone have any suggestions?

Thanks,
Roger

Roger, This is called aerophagia. Is she being treated with an Omeprazole type med for GERD/Acid Reflux? This may help....at least it helps me with swallowing air. Look up conversations on the aerophagia...there have been a few lately. Some have said to keep the head bent in a certain position..for me I have not found this helpful...plus I have cervical issues and can not hold me head in any position for too long.

I for got to also say that she is still snoring a little when she is using her Bipap. I am thinking she mite need a little higher setting. We have the same sleep Doctor and I have got an appointment to see him on tuesday. My wife is going to come with me so she can ask the doctor what he thinks.
