I have wondered the same thing. Mine was set on "Ultra" and the device person told me to leave it on that with the mask I got. I did switch to a gel nose mask (briefly) this week but switched back to the nasal pillow. I didn't even think of changing that mask setting. Does it make a real difference?

IF you are using a Resmed mask, use the appropriate Mask Selection setting. The reported Leak rate will be your actual Leak rate.

IF you are NOT using a Resmed mask, makes no difference what style of mask, use the Standard mask selection.

Using the Standard mask selection you will have to do your own math. Your Resmed will automatcially deduct 0.4 L/s (24 L/M) from the Reported Leak rate. So you will add 24 L/M to your reported Leak rate and then compare that number to the allowed vent rate of your mask at your pressure setting and add or subtract accordingly to get your actual Leak rate.
