Post Bad Cold, what do I do?
Hi,

I seem to have come down with a cold (sore throat, blocked nose, headache, etc) and I couldn't breathe through my nose when I woke up at 1am so I had to take the mask off.  What do I do?  Hopefully it will pass in a couple of days but until then how am I meant to use my mask?  It's the nasal mask, Profile Lite.  I don't have allergies or anything like that so I am hoping someone can help me out.

Thanks!

Wendy

If it anything a Cpap does good that is it will open up ur nose. Keep it clean and use it. My nose was stuffy a few minutes ago I went in and slapped on the old mask now my nose is open.

sometimes with a bad cold, the CPAP shouldnt be used for a while, I was told thet most of the mucus gets trapped in the airhose corrugations

dont know why, but since getting my CPAP Ive had less colds

I agree with Lynn, it seems like I have had less colds.  But unluckily, I just got one, with the holidays and being around lots of different people, it was bound to happen.  My first night with the cold was hard, with breathing, but since then my nose has seemed to open up.  Since I worry about the germs, I wash my mask and tubing each day.  That should cut down on breathing in more germs the next night.  I also changed my filter on the first day of my cold, and will change it again in a week.  It might mean paying for more filters (as ins. might not do it), but that is a small price for my peace of mind. Smile
