Post sleep postional therapy
Hi all

According tol my sleep physician, I have "relatively mild" apnea.  Mostly hypopneas but I've also been told it may be UARS as my O2 levels never go below 93%.  Couldn't deal with
CPAP so I'm trying out a Somodent MAS.  I have noticed some improvement.  My eyes no longer twitch all day long, they no longer twitch at all.  I still wake up fairly fatigued, never refreshed.  I'm still working with my dentist on finding that sweet spot with the device.  I do believe I have a few more advancements to go before I reach my limit so hopefully I'll continue to see some improvement.

Anyway, I had purchased a night vision video camera to get an idea of what happens at night while I sleep.  It seems as if I do move from my side to my back quite often.  During my first sleep study, which was performed two years ago, it stated most of the problems occurred while supine.  So I tried the tennis ball trick but I ended up waking up with my back on top of the balls.  This would happen many times throughout the night.  I've also purchased a type of anti-rollover tube that straps to your back.  The tube itself is fairly comfortable but again, I find myself waking several times in the middle of the night trying to get over to my back.  I started sleeping on my couch with my back facing the vertical back rest which makes it hard for me to roll to my back.  I'd say this works about 60 percent of the time.  I can't sleep on the couch every night as the couch tends to get somewhat uncomfortable after being on it for a night or two.

Has anyone experienced any success with positional therapy?  If so what did you use and why?  How about those Bob's Natural Foam Beds.  Has anyone tried them?  Maybe I'm feeling too much pressure on my mattress so I rollover on my back? The mattress is only about five years old but I may have some pressure points...

I too had trouble sleeping on my side with my old bed.  I have also used the Somnomed MAS device for over a year now.  I found that I sleep much better on my left side.  I finally got tired of sore hips and shoulders from my old mattress so I finally decided to purchase a Temperpedic.  I now sleep completely through the night waking up on my left side. If I roll during the night I or my wife doesn't notice.  I used to wake up at least 6-7 times each night.  I also changed to a Temperpedic pillow for neck support.  I was surprised how much difference a pillow could make.  The nice thing about Temperpedic is they had a 90 day trial which I took advantage of to upgrade to a different model.  A good mattress is essential to a good night sleep.  The mattress was a little pricey but good sleep on a pricey mattress is better than poor sleep on a cheap one.

I have tried the tennis ball routine and it worked for a couple nights.  I had more energy than I had in quite some time.  I however did the same thing you did, I got use the the balls and starting laying on them when asleep.  Where did you get your "anti-rollover tube"  Thanks

I don't think I'm allowed to post the link on the board.  If you google "Dr. Parker's Snore Relief Cushion", you'll find it.  It is quite comfortable.  I just have a hard time with positional therapy as I wake up every time I attempt to roll over onto my back in my sleep.
