Post Struggling to adjust
I'm only on day four, so I know I have a long road ahead. Still, I want to rant so thanks to the ASAA for this forum. I hate the machine, and a quick glance at this forum shows that experience to be very common. However, I also see a lot of encouragement from those who have traveled this road and learned to adjust to the machine. So I'll push on, although now I'm definitely sleeping less than I did before I got the CPAP and the deprivation has left me groggy, especially today. Unfortunately I have a job where being alert is a must. Fortunately, I can take comfort by hearing from those of you who say that in the long run that the machine can make life better, not worse. Those of you who take the time to read and respond to the noobies on this board are great, and I want you to know you're appreciated. I'm notoriously poor at keeping up with boards and such but I'll try to keep checking in and let everyone know how it's going. Peace...

Hi Artiem!

Glad to see you made it here!
Welcome!  Nice to see ya!   Such nice words too, thanks.

Yeah, it's not fun being connected nightly to basically a modified vacuum cleaner.
But like Vicki said, we gotta get it working for you.  So any clues about any trouble you might be having, like mask leaks or whatever, just let us know.

I guess the biggest issues are the ones everyone faces: trying to find a comfortable position on the pillow without having leaks and just the basic AWARENESS of having something on my face. FYI I have a GoodKnight 420G (Puritan Bennet) with a heated humidifier and a ComfortClassic mask, which is a nose-only model. It's pretty comfortable I guess... and last night I made it to 3 am without waking up, nearly 4 hours -- a new record! So I feel a bit better today, though I still have quite a sleep deficit to pay off.

p.s. Linda: I did PM Okie and she wrote back. Thanks again for the heads up on this forum...

Hi Artiem,

4 hours is pretty good. The trick is to go for an extra 15 or 30 minutes and build on it. In the early stages you might need to get a little bloody minded.

As soon as you wake up its important to get the mask back on and start again. Do you use the ramp feature ? A guy I knew once used to wash his face every time he would wake up, dry it thoroughly and start again with the machine. He reckoned that the mask felt fresh and it was like starting off again.............whatever works.

Keep up the good work.

Daniel.
