TAP device hurts my tongue - anyone else?

Post TAP device hurts my tongue - anyone else?
I've been using the TAP2 device for about 6 months now.

I'm getting great results - I no longer have sleep apnea and don't ever snore anymore.

But the tip of my tongue is extremely sensitive now.  I think it's getting pinched during sleep or maybe tiny cuts that seems to keep it really sensitive at all times (it never gets better).

Has anyone else experienced this?  Any ideas?

Is that TAP3 better in this way?

Post TAP2
I've been using a Tap2 for about a year with pretty good results. I also have experienced the tongue tip pain you're talking about. I find that until I get to sleep, I'm constantly playing with the metal hook with my tongue because the hook sticks out into the mouth. I've also managed to catch the tip of my tongue between the hook and the "grabber plate (or whatever it's called.) I'm going to try to get my insurance company to go for the TAP3 on my next Doctor visit because the whole device looks smaller & the hook is in a different place on the appliance.
