Post question about symptoms
I'm still new to this and having trouble finding references online that can help me determine what I can attribute to OSA and what I can't.  From reading the forums I know that the muscle aches and flu-like symptoms I have can be from sleep apnea.  I assume a lot of yawning can, too, since you yawn when tired.

But what about sighing?  It's weird, but I find myself sighing a lot, not huge exhales but noticeable.  It comes and goes, usually happens more when I'm sick with a sinus infection or something.

Also I have to be careful when laughing because I now feel like I can pass out if I laugh too hard.  That's never happened before!  Could these be from OSA?

are you talking about during the day or when you are sleeping?  during sleep sighs are common with apnea...don't know about during the day, unless you are also having low oxygen sats or something during the day.

It doesn't happen a lot.  The sighing thing has happened a few times, always correlating with a cold.  It's more like a tendency to run out of breath while talking.  The laughing too hard thing has only happened twice.  I was curious about that because the pamphlet for my 2nd sleep study has a list of symptoms, one of which is "weak knees when laughing", and I wasn't really sure what they meant by "weak knees".

"and I wasn't really sure what they meant by "weak knees"."  Not always laughing...could be during sudden shock, nervous/stressful situation etc.  Weak Knees is Cataplexy which is often associated with Narcolepsy..but not always.  The question on the form is a typical question...people would not really asscoctiate weak knees witha sleep disorder but it is a symptom of one.  With Narcolepsy you do not usually have trouble breathing but it is a sudden need to sleep.

Thanks Mrs RVW, I didn't realize it was referring to something so specific.  I think I'll look up cataplexy -- I'm studying to be a medical transcriptionist, I love learning new words!
