Post New York Post Article
Anybody see this article (Snore Losers Wired & Tired) this morning posted by gossip columnist Cindy Adams. Something about it just struck a nerve so I wrote an open letter on my blog. The article was good, even somewhat funny up to the end. I guess according to Mrs. Adams we're all just contributing to the high cost of healthcare.  Evil or Very Mad

I guess Cindy is discovering that even she can sometimes run out of material, and she figured that if talk radio hosts can claim there is no such thing as autism, she can get away with poking fun at sleep apnea. I think sleep centers are hungry for money and may sometimes b too aggressive in psuhing people to get tested, but if even half the claims are true people may be saved from heart disease, strokes and obesity/diabetes by being tested and treated for OSA. That amounts to enormous savings, not extra costs, no matter what the dumb gossips say. And any gossip columnist who can't dredge up stories in July and August just by tsar-gazing in the Hamptons should see the writing on the wall: "cindy, time to start collecting social security!"

And doesn't it sound like Cindy had the sleep lab experience herself? No one describes it to their friends in such angry detail.

Good point Arthur, you're right. Most describe it in just a few words. lol

Gawd!

The problem is..... just how many people did she scare away from getting tested and then treated, hmmmm?

It's not just a case of opinion, it is fundamentally irresponsible and conceivably she could cause someone health risks or to lose their life.  That may sound extreme, but is it?  What if she said diabetes or some other condition was just plain hogwash, convincing people to not see their doctor?  She's totally irresponsible, and dangerous.  The thing is, she's not alone in this.  We've seen this before.  Ignorance does not make one an expert.  As you indicated, Arthur, she bases this on what?    And you're right, her anger is her own creation.

This all makes me want to hit something!   lol

I tried to find a link to email them, but found nothing.  I find it very sad when someone insults others as she has.  When I found out I had celiac disease, lots of people thought me crazy.  People never understand something they do not have to deal with personally.

My sister's sister in law died from what they called SIDS then.  She was in her mid 20's with a 2 month old baby, she went to sleep and never woke up.  If this happened to the writter's family, she would change her tune.  It doesn't effect her now, so she doesn't care who she upsets.  Very sad!!!

I checked out the front page of New York Post. I wouldn't worry about people taking this seriously. The main
front page article appears to be an in-depth discussion on Keira Knightley's refusal to have breast implants:)

Rolling Eyes Sounds like she went in expecting an excuse for her short commings and was told she didn't have it.

People who don't have celiacs disease think you can just not eat bread and be ok, it (wheat gluten) can be in anything from jelitan to chocalate, bullion cubes to table salt.and when I get snuck up on, it seems worse because i'm not expecting it. Most people think I'm on "Atkins" "Oh come on a little cheat won't hurt." wrong.
