 Bi-polar people , where are you ?
I've been completely off of my effexor for 6 days now. I've had a problem with eds for a few days, so I took some provigil yesterday and today. I am high as a kite. I spilled a gallon of tea on the kitchen floor, and actually enjoyed cleaning it up. Green tea is an awesome cleaner, but I recommend doing without the sugar. That is so not like me to have that much energy. I'm just a bit manic, maybe you can tell. So, no more provigil for me? It didn't do much for the sleepiness, I'm just a sleeping drunk. I have a church small group meeting tonight, I'm thinking about skipping it , but I guess I'll just come clean and tell them I'm doped up today. Virginia

I'm here with you. Bi-polar and loving the mania.
What kind of church do you attend? I'm born again.

My diagnosis keeps changing from anxiety disorder to depression, now (because of some strong impulsive self-destructive tendencies and the fact that Lamictal is very helpful for me) bipolar. I also have no problem training for triathlons, playing my music 10-15 hours a week, taking care of a special needs kid, working, hanging out here, etc. I don't mind the current label, but I did get rather peeved that my psychologist thinks that me being so involved with my music is some kind of mania. When I complained about that she laughed and said, "Maybe we should make it a diagnostic criteria, flute playing too much". I wasn't sleeping, but now we think it is because I've lost a lot of weight and my CPAP pressure was blowing my brains out and I also am having some major hormonal problems.
Dang Virginia, why can't I use this energy to clean the house? I am so envious of you!

Don't be envious of my house cleaning skills. I only get these spurts every great once in a while. The rest of the time , everything goes to pot. Then it takes all of that energy to get it clean again. That Green tea really cut all of the grease and grime on my kitchen floor, but I had to mop it again to get the sugar residue off. I've been so doped up and so sleep deprived for so many years, I could carbon date the dust. But stuff is getting done now, if only in spurts. Short bus, I go to a church loosely affialeted with the Southern Baptist Convention, and more closely affialieated with WillowBrook Church near Chicago. The " seeker " based services kind of annoy me sometimes, because I grew up in conservative more worship style churches, but its a great church with great people who don't care what label you have, so I'll stay here. They understand that mental illness is just that, an illness, and not a sin issue. Virginia

How much Provigil??? Did I ever tell you about my week of Provigil and Lexapro? Decided I didn't like the master bath and gutted it..toilet and all...including the ceramic tile floors and removing wall paper...then the next say it was rainy so I put on my bathing suil=t and went outside and tore up the landscaping along the whole side of the house...from the street in. Proceeded to lay about 60 feet of landscaping concrete edging, stone walk way and plants...all this with several herniated discs. Landscaping turned out well...bathroom took about 8 months for me to get around to putting it back together!
I have to admit...I love the happy times...it is the down times that I dread!

Mrs. RVW,
OMG, my house needs remodeling. Please come over next time you feel manic. I'll be sure to have you only do something you can rip up and remodel the same day, I mean the same 24 hours.

Mrs. RVP, only 100 mg. I cut my pills in half, thank the Lord. I think we need to contact the DBSA and work on channeling this energy for positive good. We could have a network of bi-polar people, who would call in each morning that they would be available for major remodeling projects or such for the poor and disabled. Maybe Habitat could use some help. When the mania is gone, someone else would step in and work until they need to go home and take some meds. Virginia

That is actually a great idea! The only problem is that we will have a thusand houses started and never finish a dang one of them!!! Or the house will become so bizarre with our ideas...bigger and bigger and bigger! Bigger and bigger will be better and better because we can all dance naked on the roof tops to the sound of a fiddle in our heads!

Oh, we would have to have a keeper to control us. I have a person in my DBSA group who has fibromyalgia. She has applied at several places to volonteer, but no one wants her because she can't commit to keeping a schedule. Why not a sort of temporary agency for volenteer work? Virginia

I cannot imaging being in a triatholon and taking care of special needs children. My biggest goal is to get to work everyday.

Grateful, you have a job and a place to go every day. Many people with bi-polar can't manage that. But they do have a few days a month where they function pretty well, so why not give them the opportunity to do something good with the talents they have? We all have talents, some of us with bi-polar have pretty awesome abilities and talents when they are on a manic phase. We should find a way to harness that. Self esteem goes through the roof when you know you are useful . Virginia

I saw my pcp yesterday, he suspected my blood levals on dilantin were elevated, so I had a blood leval done yesterday and it came back as normal. I talked to my pharmacist this morning, and he told me effexor lowers the serum levals of dilantin in the blood, and provigil raises them. I was at my neoros last week, and I told her what meds I was on now, and she didnt ask for a leval, so I am peeved big time now. I think this was a temporary glitch, but I can't be sure. I'm trying to get in with the other neoro but the office is giving me grief. The doctors wont allow their patients to switch without the pcp asking the doctor to do it. So I called my pcp, they called back and they said I don't need a referral, just call for an appointment with the other guy. I told her what the neoro dept. told me, and she kept me on the phone while she talked to them. They still won't budge. I told the pcp receptionist that I will take this up with the HMO board if I don't get this mess taken care of . I have a call into my pdoc, to see if he can speed things along, but I haven't heard from him as of yet. I took one less dilantin last night, and my mask was leaking big time. I was having arousals, but I was not able to do anything about fixing the leaks. With the higher dosage, I am sedated so much that I can sleep through anything, but I do not think that is a good thing. My ahi was real low , at a 2, so I actually feel pretty good , just mad as heck. Virginia

Oh gosh I hope you did not mis-understand me. I meant my hats off to you for being in a triathlon!! I know that many people with Bipolar cannot hold down a job. I have no choice; who is going to pay my bills? And my doctor tells me that I am not bad enough to be on disability. But my government job allows me to be flexible which makes it easier for me. So for that I am grateful!

Ok, I'm lost here. Who did the triathalon? I'm lucky to log 6000 steps on my pedometer in day. Grateful you must have confused me with someone else. Just consider it an apnea moment, have a good day. Virginia
