More than likely, you would have just woken up and removed your mask.
Not to discount the UPS, but the fear that one will die during a power outage is unfounded. If you have a nasal mask and the air stops, your instinct will be to open your mouth. Full face masks have anti-asphyxiation valves which allow you to breath room air if the air flow stops.
Still, if you are prone to power glitches/surges in your area I would opt for the better models that filter & regulate the power as well. Power issues/surges are a sure machine killer.
