Looks like a BiLevel will be better for you...considering the centrals and mixed and a full face mask...or a hybrid type.

Provigil is an effective med, but please be careful and do not use it as a substitute for treating the condition.  It only makes your day a little easier, you are not doing anything to help your body heal by using it.  Well, perhaps some people who use it are able to sleep a bit better at night because they are not nodding off all day, but that's about it. You are still prone to high blood pressure, diabetes, depression , and everything else that goes on with sleep apnea.  I have a bottle, I used it for a year or so while I was getting my apnea under control.  Now I just use it on those days where my AHI is over 4, or I had a very high leak rate that night.  I am very concerned about the current add campaign for the drug, it is encouraging people with sleep apnea to settle for less than optimal treatment.  I do not want to give any more of my money to that company than I have to, plus it is very expensive, and I am trying to be conservative with my usage of health care these days, regardless of whether my insurance will cover it or not.  Virginia

The patent on the generic form of Provigil expired long ago and it is a cheap drug to manufacture.  The current manufacturer has patented the size of the particles of the drug, that is why there is no generic available in the US, and consequently why it is so expensive.

Could be why my insurance company is so picky about paying for it. I don't like the co-pays, but bcbs is doing a great job of trying to keep people off of meds that might harm them, or into something just as good that costs much less.  I should have payed attention when they took dilantin off of the formulary, and made me pay full cost.  This is an awful drug that most people are better off without.  Doctors keep prescribing it because it is cheap even without insurance.  They tried taking effexor off of the formulary also, but they got too much grief so they allowed it again. Should have paid attention that time also.  Virginia
