Congratulations, Nonky!!! Unfortunately, here in the USA they could not have done that. *sigh* Sometimes our FDA is not any too swift when it comes to THINKING. Duh.

Hi Crohnie, why couldn't they do that? I don't think it's the norm here either but he took my word that I had a prescription ordering software and he thought I had been messed around enough already. God love him because he made my fight so much easier.

The FDA restricts the sale of the software for professional use only. Resmed follows the letter of the law and can't provide it. We can find it thru some of the online DME suppliers to buy but most of the locals won't sell it to us even if our doctors would script it for us. I've read of one or two whose doctor would write the script AND their local DME supplier sell it to them - but only one or two. And I've only read of one person who was able to convince their insurance to pay for it.

Huh? I don't believe this to be true. Where have you read this?

Have you bought any CPAP software? EncorePro? AutoScan? ResScan? Then read the accompanying literature. That doesn't mean patients "can't" buy it. I have two versions of EncorePro, one version of AutoScan and two versions of ResScan. You will see the various software for sale at many online DME supplier websites w/no restrictions or need for a script.
But, the local DME suppliers are bound by and honor that restriction.

I have, I own ResScan. Nowhere did I see it say it was a federally restricted item. I will look again...
