I heard recently of studies that indicate the this medication helps, not cures, SA.  Does anyone have any info about this?  I have been taking it for depression since April and also have SA.  I can't say from my experience whether or not there is any help or not.  I'd just like to have more info that anyone has about it.

This has been getting a lot of recent press, and in those articles, it seems to just refer to sleep apnea, without specifying obstructive or central.  Earlier studies I had read, addressed it's use in CENTRAL apnea.  I don't know if this means more recent studies have included obstructive apnea patients, or if they are just generalizing the term sleep apnea.
  Some of the side effects of the drug, lethergy and wt gain don't sound too attractive to me. I'm already fat and sleepy, LOL.

Hi Bennie's Mom,

There was a recent report about this (on the ticker tape on this forum), whereby some doc in LA reported that use of the drug reduced apnoea events by up to 50%. Unfortunately there was no specifics on the study, numbers, AHIs, BMI's etc., and most importantly who actually paid for his study. There was no mention of side effects.

I'd say if you Google the medication name you may find some more bits and pieces.
