Post blackout question
I am fairly new at using a CPAP machine. I'm wondering what  you do when there is a blackout? If the blackout occurs before I go to bed, I can hook up my back up battery. But what if the blackout occurs when I am sleeping, and the machine stopping does not wake me up? Is there a device that would wake you up if there is a blackout? Or can the machine be hooked up so that your battery backup automatically comes on when a blackout occurs? I am using a Remstar Plus with Cflex. Any help you can give will be greatly appreciated.

Not to worry.  If you use a nasal interface, you'll probably open your mouth to breath (abeit not very efficiently and providing you haven't taped it shut).  Just the change in pressure and not having completely fresh air would wake me up.

If you have a full face (FF) mask, they have anti-asphyxiation valves to pull fresh air in.

the question of a blackout with a nose mask and mouth taped is of course interesting, especially if the user is drunk and heavily medicated
