Post Titration disaster!!
I went in for the titration testing last night with a good positive attitutde and in hopes of getting some good sleep.  Not quite!!  I was so uncomfortable wearing that thing that I hardly slept at all.  The tech said I dozed off twice for about an hour then would start kicking my legs and pulling at the mask.  Initially I started with the full mask beause I am a mouth breather.  That was so uncomfortable we decided to try just the nose mask and had no luck there either.  At about 4:15 a.m. I gave up and went home.  What will happen if I simply cannot get used to wearing these things?  Wil my doc want another sleep study?  This sucks!!

Wait until your doc gets the results.  And you ought to ask the doc for a copy of the sleep study report.  You may have slept long enough for results, I don't know.  When I had my sleep study, I could have sworn I didn't sleep long enough, but I did (and I remember hearing myself snoring once, so I guess it's so).

Yes, the titration can be hard for some people.  But keep in mind, using cpap at home is FAR different than using it in a sleep study center, for many reasons.  Don't let that experience deter you.  I was in tears at the end of my titration, but cpap has made a big difference in my life.  Given the severity of my condition, I'm pretty confident that I'd have been dead within a year if I'd not had cpap.  Don't assume the worst.  I bet there was enough data.  But if not, there might be another study, or they might even consider having you be titrated using a machine at home, it's an option.

Linda gave great advice.  I didn't sleep well either yet there was enough data to determine my settings.  It took two weeks to get used to the mask and it was a rough time.  I too am a mouth breather and use a full face mask.  Once you get used to sleeping in it, it will feel strange when you don't.  Just keep with it - you can eventually feel much better.
