Post FLI and Variable Breathing
I am using the REMstar Auto/CFlex, Encore Pro and MyEncore.

I have almost a month of data now. I have searched these forums, FAQ's, etc... and can't seem to find a good explanation for these.

If you look at my data HERE, you will see my FLI doesn't look too bad, but my Fraction of Time in Variable Breathing seems really high. Can someone please give me a good explanation of these?

Also, if there is anything else that jumps out at you on my numbers, let me know. I have reduced my snores to zero. My AHI is under 4 all of the time, many nights under 1.

Keep in mind when looking at my Leak Rate, that my mask (HC431) has a expected leak rate of 43L/min @ 17 and 47L/min @ 19, so being around 50 doesn't seem too bad. I know the mask leaks, but there's not alot I have been able to do about it. It seems to leak the most where my cheeks are, unless I let me cheeks puff out, which seals it better.

Thanks!

-Marc

Marc,

Here's the thing, how are you feeling?  You have to be careful not to obsess on the numbers.  If you AHI is low and you are feeling good, then all is good.  As for mask leak, the machine you have will compensate for mask leak.

What was your titrated pressure?  Have you tried setting the machine to CPAP mode at that pressure and seeing what the numbers are?

Not really obsessing over the numbers, just want to know what they all mean. I am still tired during the day. Mostly in the afternoon. Mornings, I seem pretty refreshed. I was actually titrated at 12cm, but was still having alot of apneas/hypopneas at that pressure. I was also still snoring like a banshee, according to my wife. I raised the pressure until they all slowed down/stopped. I do feel much better than pre-xPAP.

You have an auto, what is the range set for?  And you might want to talk to your doc about the pressure, from the graphs it looks like 12 might be low...

What mask are you using with your CPAP?

I currently have my pressure set to 17-20. Came to that after watching my data, seeing how I felt and listening to my wife. My problem with the doc is, he is no longer practicing in my area. I really don't want to start from scratch with a new one at this point. The medical industry has gotten enough of my money this year. I am using the F&P HC431 FF mask.

Your mask might be your problem.

There was a post on another forum that indicated that the person trying that mask had lots of problems with snoring with that mask and that it wouldn't work with his BIPAP.  I have read somewhere that they do not work well with auto's and some folks had problems with it.

the poster here had problems with his auto and that mask also Here
