Sleep Study done, now how long?

Post Sleep Study done, now how long?
Ok in talking with several people at work who are on CPAP with apnea and a wife who tosses me out of bed every night I went to my primary. I am dead tired all day, falling asleep driving home, snoring and stopping breathing, etc...

Primary sends me for sleep study, done on 10/31/05, the technician tells me upon waking the only information he can give me is if I am positive or negative for sleep apnea not how severe it may be. Well I tested positive as I pretty much figured and now have at least confirmed that I have sleep apnea.

NOW, the clinic says it takes three weeks to read the results, then a consult with the doctor and another sleep study. Then from what my coworkers told me the machine will be ordered and calibrated and given to me.

My question, how long did this whole process take you? My first sleep study follow up is on 11/22 and I know the CPAP is covered under my insurance but have no idea how long before I can correct this nonsense. Anyway my buddy at work bets I won't see any relief until mid to end December and I really don't want to wait that long.

Thanks in advance....

That's odd.  I had a sleep study done, and my results with CPAP 10 days later.
Maybe my situation was uniquely quick.  I don't know...
Anyone else?...

I had my first sleep study on Oct. 8, and my CPAP titration done last night, Nov. 4. They didn't say how long before the Dr. will have the results and write a Rx.

I had to have 2 different nights as well. The first time I got limited sleep, so they only had enough sleep time to get the diagnosis of sleep apnea. When I woke up all the technician told me was that I would get my results in 7-10 days. In about 7-10 days I got a call telling me they needed to schedule my second sleep study. The receptionist was new and only a receptionist, so she didn't know anything and just kept telling me it was my CPAP test. (CPAP might as well have bee a Greek word because I had no clue what she was talking about). So then I had to wait another week and a half to have it done, in the meantime I fingured out what a CPAP was and that obviously they thought I had sleep apnea. After the second test I had to wait about 12 days and then only got the results because I begged the doctor's office to follow up on the results because they had not received yet. I got my CPAP the following day. The first night was ackward, but I finally realized I was not sleeping because I was actually concentrating on breathing. So I finally dozed off, but got limited hours of sleep. Last night was my second night and I slept 8.5 hours and woke up feeling very rested. My boyfriend even commented he noticed a marked difference in my sleeping.   Very Happy  The only draw back is the bridge of my nose is a little tender because apparently the top of the mask was resting on it.
