Post Mandibular device not very good, still have apnea
Hi there,

I am new to the board and have recently been diagnosed with Mild OSA.  I am having to loose weight and am waiting for my results on my restleg leg syndrome test.

I have a device that I wear in my mouth, it is the sort that you mould yourself.  However, I still get apnea with it and apparently still snore, very loudly.

Any advice you can give would be most appreciated.

Thanks in anticipation

Hi - Have you been to a dentist who specializes in Sleep Apnea treatment?  If not, I would really urge you to do this.  I have been using CPAP therapy since last March and my primary care doctor recommended that I look into an oral device rather than the CPAP.  I went to a dentist who specializes in sleep apnea/snoring and he considered my case.   I received my Somno Med oral device and it has made a big difference.  But --- this device is custom fitted to my mouth and I am still under the care of the dentist to make certain it is doing what it is supposed to do for my apnea.   So far ---- so good.

If you want to get serious about an oral appliance you must be treated by a dental specialist.  Forget any device that you mold or fit on your own.  It needs specialized attention.
