Post Arousals and Awakenings?
Hello,

I was just wondering what the difference  between arousals and awakenings are?  I got my results on my first sleep study,  and Monday I go and get my CPAP titration.  Anyway it said I have 229 arousals and zero awakenings.  When I know that I woke up many times because the tech asked me several times to adjust the nasal canual on my nose.

I am so confused, and tired and ready to get my machine!

Thanks in advance,

Leslie

Post Arousals and awakenings
Hi Leslie!
An arousal is a break in sleep continuity for at least 3 seconds, and you are usually bumped into a lighter stage of sleep.  If the break continues for more than 15 seconds, it's an awakening.  You are rarely aware of arousals, but may be aware of awakenings.
The events you describe should probably have been classified as awakenings.

Thanks for the answer sleepydave,

I posted my graph on the other forum and I think it shows just that.

All in all, I had a messed up night.

thanks again

Leslie
