Post 2 weeks and no results
Hi everyone,

I had my sleep study done 2 weeks ago and have called the doc 3 times and they keep saying they will call me back.  The results are meant to take 7-10 days to get.  However, what results can there be if I never fell asleep???? I mean, what are they waiting for???? I had the study done in the hospital which is right next to the building that my specialist is in so how it takes that long I don't know.

Can I ask them for a copy of the so called "results"?

Wendy

Hi-
I sure understand you wanting to know ... it took me 4 weeks to get results.  Not much longer to go.  I was surprised how long they said I slept.  I thought only a couple of hours, but I got almost 6 hours of sleep.  You may be surprised too!

Good luck.

Mark

What are you guys talking about?  I had my sleep study, getting myself all wired last Wed.  The next morning, the dr. told me that I had mild OSA, and then I was sent home for a about eight hours, and back to the hopstial the same nite (Thurs), where I was put on an Autopac and slept.  The next morning (Friday), the doc said that the CPAC worked for me, and my prescribed level was 6.  What I'm saying is that the whole process took only a couple of days.  It's the waiting for the available bed at the hospital took me almost a year.

I suggest calling the sleep study lab and ask for a copy.  If they won't release a copy of it to you, ask if it's available yet for the doctor's review.  There's nothing wrong in asking for the status of the report.  I understand the report is often completed by the day following the end of  your sleep study.  The polysomography is done while you sleep and the results are printed out fairly soon after.  I understand notes are often written down during the course of the sleep study and the results are reviewed soon after.  I suppose some delay may be in the delay of reading the results and making the actual final report.  I'm sure they know the results right away, but may not have drafted the report.  Regardless, call and ask about the status of that report.  Can't hurt.  What can they do, tell you it's none of your business?  They aren't likely to do that, and if they are at least you've tried.  Don't be afraid to ask.
