Post Ouch! Nose hurts!
I have been using the Breeze nasal pillows for the past two nights now and today
my nose HURTS. How long is this going to last? I am assuming that it will get better
after some time.

Just where does it hurt, Peggy?

I, too, use nasal pillows, but also use a very light coating of vaseline.  There appears to be some dispute about this, however, so I would encourage you to discuss the "irritation" with your durable medical provider.

Of course, you may simply have the pillows on too snugly.

Others here said they just "toughed it out," and over time their noses "adjusted."

I recall an odd feeling in my nose for the first week or more of using the pillows.

It also makes my moustache stick out in all different crazy directions  Wink

I am pretty sure i just got used to it but as already mentioned you may well have the upper strap of the head gear fastned too snugly

Good Luck!

If you have a humidifier, try turning up the heat on it.  I had the same problem till I did that.

Peggy,

What size pillows are you using ? There is a strong possibility that the tech or sales person gave you a set of small ones (as you are female). While I don't use pillows myself I believe  (from other posts) that you need to use the largest size you can manage, no matter what they tell you. This usually gets rid of the soreness.

If that fails you might coat the inside of the 'nares' with vaseline or similar.

Post relief for tender nose
Hi,
i have been on cpap w/nasal pillows for almost 9 weeks.  My respitory therapist said to never use any creams, vaseline, etc. because it can cause deterioration of your mask and leaks...bad news.  The good news it what she suggested for tender tissue around the nose....and this realllly helps.  She told me to put some aloe vera gel like you put on sunburn, on the tender tissue of the nose. Now, don't put it way up in your nose, just at the openings around the edges where the pillows rest.  This will help your tender nose.  It really helps.  I use Solarcaine aloe vera gel with lidocaine.  Again, don't put it up your nose, just around the tip, edges of the nostrils at the opening.  I hope this helps you.  It has helped me.  Also, i agree with the thought that the pillows need to be the correct size or they will hurt.  Best wishes for a nose that feels better soon!  Happy sleeping!

My nose hurt and I had a big red mark on one of my nostrils.  I figured out it was because the headgear was too tight.  After loosening it, I haven't had any other problems.
